Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanic with expertise in hydraulic systems and diesel engines to lead maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills, the ability to train junior mechanics, and a strong understanding of safety standards and preventative maintenance. Key Responsibilities: • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and related components on heavy equipment and vehicles. • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime. • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools. • Lead and supervise junior mechanics and technicians; provide technical guidance and training. • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet safety, quality, and operational standards. • Read and interpret hydraulic and engine schematics, manuals, and technical drawings. • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, parts used, and time spent. • Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance without interrupting operations. • Monitor inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; initiate orders when necessary. • Comply with all company and regulatory safety protocols and environmental guidelines. Key Skills and Competencies: • Education: High School Diploma or Technical School Certification in Mechanics, Diesel Technology, or equivalent. • Experience: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in diesel engine repair and hydraulic system maintenance. • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and related components. • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and reading schematics. • Familiarity with heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and trucks (depending on industry). • Valid driver’s license; CDL or equipment operator certification is a plus. • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities. • Good communication and teamwork. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Physically demanding – may require lifting heavy equipment, working in various positions, and operating in outdoor or workshop environments. • May involve overtime, weekends, or emergency callouts depending on operational needs.
