Job description

• Skillfully assemble printed sheets into books, ensuring proper alignment and binding for a polished final product. • Operate manual binding machines and tools, including guillotines and sewing equipment, with precision and care. • Cut, trim, and fold materials with attention to detail, maintaining consistent quality across all finished products. • Collaborate with printing and design teams to understand specific binding requirements and timelines for projects. • Conduct quality checks throughout the binding process to identify and rectify defects before final assembly. • Maintain an organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are readily available and properly stored. • Execute custom binding requests, adapting techniques to meet unique client specifications and preferences. • Train and mentor junior binders in manual techniques, fostering a culture of craftsmanship and attention to detail. • Stay updated on industry trends and techniques to continually enhance skills and improve binding processes. • Manage inventory of binding supplies, ordering materials as needed to prevent delays in production. • Minimum of 2 years experience in manual bookbinding or a related field, demonstrating hands-on proficiency. • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in bookbinding is a plus. • Familiarity with various binding techniques, including saddle stitch, perfect binding, and case binding. • Strong attention to detail and a passion for craftsmanship, ensuring high-quality finished products. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, balancing multiple projects simultaneously. • Basic knowledge of printing processes and materials, enhancing collaboration with print teams. • Physical stamina to handle manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods. • Effective communication skills to relay project updates and collaborate with colleagues. • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage in diverse work environments. • Problem-solving mindset to quickly address and resolve binding issues that may arise during production.
