Machine Operator/ Machinist

• Skillfully machine components and items of ships machinery/equipment in accordance with customer’s specifications and as directed by the Supervisor in charge. • Checks and records all important sizes to ensure acceptable tolerances. Present readings to Supervisor in-charge pointing out any discrepancies. • Assists the Machine Shop Supervisor/Machine Shop Work Preparator to determine any material requirements. • Arranges items of consumable materials e.g. tools, cutters for carrying out machining work. • Performs any responsible duty considered within the individual’s ability as instructed by the Supervisor in charge. • Maintains his workstation in an organized and tidy state. • Observe the Company’s Safety Procedures and maintain safe working practices. • Observe the Company’s Quality Control Procedures and maintain acceptable working standards. • Maintain “good housekeeping” in and around his place of work. • Observe good time keeping and maintain a high standard of conduct. • Undertake to assist and train any apprentice/trainee allocated to him. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned • Good interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Ability to deal with people at all levels. • Flexible team-player who easily adapts to an ever-changing environment. • Ability to follow directions accurately. • Proactive, positive and a high sense of responsibility. • Honest, respectful, and trustworthy. • Ability to solve problems at workplace. • Familiarity working with various tools and equipment.
