Job description

Start Date ASAP My client is a global data, AI, digital transformation, and consulting company that helps organisations use data and technology to improve business performance, customer experience, and decision-making. The client is looking for an experienced Kong Administrator, cum Developer responsible for designing, developing, and implementing API solutions using Kong API Gateway. You will work closely with engineers and product managers to ensure that APIs are secure, scalable, and meet business needs. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and configure Kong entities (services, routes, plugins, caching, API management, etc.). Develop custom Lua scripts for advanced functionality. Integrate Kong with existing APIs and backend systems. Manage API security, including authentication, authorization, and rate limiting. Implement traffic management features like load balancing and caching. Monitor, alert, and debug Kong performance and troubleshoot any issues. Automate Kong configurations as part of a DevOps pipeline. Develop and maintain API documentation using the Kong Developer Portal. Stay up to date on the latest Kong features and best practices. Create, customize, and maintain Kong plugins to extend capabilities. Implement request and response transformations based on customer needs. Apply Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for securing API endpoints • Proven experience as a Kong Administrator and Developer, with a deep understanding of Kong s architecture and functionalities. • Strong understanding of API design principles (RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specifications). • Experience with web services and micro services architectures. • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python). • Experience with DevOps principles and tools (e.g., Git, CI/CD). • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. • Strong communication and collaboration skills. • Certifications in Kong or equivalent. • Solid understanding of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) implementations. • Experience with Kubernetes and Kong Ingress. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). • Experience with API security tools (e.g., OAuth, OIDC, Auth0). • Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, JMeter, Insomnia
