JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition: Instrument SupervisorJob Summary We are looking for an experienced **Instrument Supervisor** responsible for supervising, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning instrumentation and control systems. The candidate should have strong knowledge of field instruments, PLC/SCADA systems, control panels, VFDs, RTUs, calibration, loop checking, and fault diagnosis. The Instrument Supervisor will also ensure that instrumentation and control systems operate safely and reliably and support the operations and automation teams during maintenance, modifications, and emergency situations. Key Responsibilities1\. Instrumentation \& Field Devices The candidate should have hands\-on knowledge of the following: * Flow transmitters * Pressure transmitters * Level sensors and level transmitters * Temperature sensors and transmitters * pH analyzers * Gas detectors, including: * H₂S * Methane * Oxygen * Vibration monitoring devices * Control valves and associated instrumentation * Various industrial measuring and monitoring instruments 2\. Calibration \& Testing * Perform and supervise calibration of field instruments. * Carry out instrument testing and verification. * Perform loop checking from field instruments to control systems. * Conduct signal testing and input/output (I/O) checking. * Verify instrument readings against standard/reference equipment. * Maintain calibration records and instrument maintenance documentation. 3\. Troubleshooting \& Maintenance * Diagnose instrument and control system faults. * Identify and replace faulty sensors, transmitters, and other instrumentation components. * Troubleshoot abnormal instrument readings and signal failures. * Investigate and rectify control system alarms. * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of instrumentation systems. * Ensure instruments are properly installed, connected, and functioning. 4\. PLC, SCADA \& Control Systems The candidate should have working knowledge of: * PLC panels * SCADA systems * RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) * Control panels * VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) * Digital and analog input/output signals * Instrument communication systems Responsibilities include: * Checking PLC inputs and outputs. * Troubleshooting PLC and SCADA alarms. * Performing communication network checks. * Verifying signals between field devices, RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA. * Supporting troubleshooting of control panels and VFD\-related issues. * Assisting automation engineers during system modifications and upgrades. 5\. Pump \& Process Control The Instrument Supervisor shall ensure that instrumentation and control systems support proper operation of pumping and process equipment, including: * Ensuring pumps start and stop correctly. * Monitoring and controlling wet well levels. * Ensuring level sensors and control logic operate correctly. * Preventing overflow conditions through proper level monitoring and control. * Checking automatic and manual operating sequences. * Verifying alarms and interlocks associated with pumping systems. 6\. Emergency \& Safety Systems * Ensure emergency shutdown systems function properly. * Check critical alarms, interlocks, and shutdown signals. * Verify gas detection systems are operational and properly connected to the control system. * Ensure backup generators and associated alarms operate correctly. * Support emergency troubleshooting and restoration of critical control systems. * Follow all company HSE procedures and permit\-to\-work requirements. 7\. Supervisory Responsibilities * Supervise Instrument Technicians and related maintenance personnel. * Allocate daily maintenance activities and monitor work progress. * Review completed maintenance and testing activities. * Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, Operations, and Automation teams. * Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and according to approved procedures. * Maintain proper records of breakdowns, maintenance, calibration, testing, and inspections. * Report major equipment and instrumentation faults to the management. Required Technical Skills The candidate should have strong knowledge of: * Industrial instrumentation * Calibration and loop checking * Flow, pressure, level, and temperature measurement * pH and gas detection systems * PLC and SCADA systems * RTUs and control panels * VFDs * Analog and digital signals * I/O testing * Alarm and fault troubleshooting * Instrument communication networks * Pump control systems * Emergency shutdown and interlock systems * Preventive and corrective maintenance Qualification \& Experience * Diploma or Degree in **Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, Automation, or a related engineering discipline**. * Minimum **5–8 years of relevant industrial experience**, preferably with supervisory experience. * Experience in wastewater, sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, pumping stations, utilities, or similar facilities is preferred. * Strong practical experience in instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration, PLC/SCADA, and control systems. * Good knowledge of HSE requirements and safe working practices.
