HSE Officer

HSE OFFICER – LANDSCAPING **Location:** Abu Dhabi / Al Ain, UAE **Industry:** Landscaping, Horticulture \& Facilities Maintenance **Employment Type:** Full\-Time \| Site\-Based Position Overview The HSE Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining **Health, Safety and Environmental standards** across landscaping projects and operational sites. The role will ensure compliance with UAE regulations, client requirements, company policies, and applicable QHSE standards. The position involves regular site inspections, risk assessments, safety training, incident prevention, environmental monitoring, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities * Implement and monitor the company's **HSE policies, procedures, and QHSE standards** across landscaping sites. * Conduct regular **site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments** and ensure corrective actions are implemented. * Identify workplace hazards associated with landscaping, irrigation, gardening, maintenance, and construction activities. * Prepare and review **Risk Assessments, Method Statements, JSA/JHA, toolbox talks, and safety checklists**. * Ensure employees use appropriate **PPE** and follow safe working practices. * Conduct daily/weekly **toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSE awareness sessions**. * Monitor safe operation of landscaping equipment, machinery, tools, vehicles, and lifting activities. * Ensure safe practices during **loading, unloading, material handling, transportation, and storage**. * Monitor activities involving excavation, trenching, irrigation works, planting, hard landscaping, paving, and other site construction works. * Ensure proper safety procedures are followed when working with **fertilizers, pesticides, chemicals, and other hazardous materials**. * Monitor heat\-stress prevention, hydration, rest breaks, and welfare arrangements in accordance with applicable UAE requirements. * Investigate **accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions** and recommend corrective and preventive measures. * Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, incident reports, training records, and other required documentation. * Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, engineers, and workers to resolve safety concerns. * Monitor environmental practices including **waste management, water usage, chemical handling, and prevention of environmental pollution**. * Support emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, first\-aid arrangements, and emergency response drills. * Ensure compliance with applicable **UAE legislation, client HSE requirements, and international safety standards**. * Conduct regular follow\-ups to ensure identified HSE observations and non\-conformities are properly closed. * Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental performance. Required Qualifications \& Experience * Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in **Occupational Health \& Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline**. * **NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent HSE certification** is preferred. * Minimum **2–5 years of relevant HSE experience**, preferably in landscaping, horticulture, construction, facilities management, or related industries. * Strong knowledge of **HSE/QHSE procedures, risk assessment, incident investigation, and site safety practices**. * Experience working in outdoor/site\-based environments. * Knowledge of UAE HSE requirements and client safety standards. * Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to conduct training and toolbox talks. * Ability to prepare professional HSE reports and maintain accurate documentation. * Strong observation, problem\-solving, and incident\-prevention skills.
