Heavy Equipment & Fire Vehicle Technical Specialist

Provide technical expertise on fire engines, rescue vehicles, airport rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicles, tankers, aerial platforms, and specialized firefighting vehicles. Review and evaluate technical specifications, drawings, datasheets, and manufacturer documentation. Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications, evaluating vendor proposals, and participating in technical bid evaluations. Ensure fire vehicles comply with applicable safety regulations, operational requirements, and recognized industry standards. Recommend fleet upgrades, modifications, and equipment improvements to enhance operational capability. Support emergency response operations by providing technical assistance when required. Knowledge in: • Fire vehicle construction and design • Fire pumps and water delivery systems • Foam proportioning systems • Hydraulic rescue equipment • Diesel engines and powertrains • Heavy vehicle electrical and electronic systems • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems • Vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting • Preventive and corrective maintenance • Fleet management principles • Technical specifications and procurement • Inspection, testing, and commissioning of emergency vehicles • Occupational health and safety requirements • Emergency vehicle operational standards and best practices Skills: • Strong technical and analytical skills • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals • Inspection and quality assurance • Project coordination • Vendor and supplier coordination • Communication and presentation skills • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Relevant professional experience in fire vehicle maintenance, emergency vehicle engineering, fleet management, or heavy vehicle maintenance. Experience with municipal, industrial, military, or airport firefighting vehicles is preferred.
