Head of Manufacturing Cost Accounting • Reports To Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Finance Director Job Summary The Head of Manufacturing Cost Accounting is responsible for leading and managing all cost accounting activities related to manufacturing operations. The role ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, cost control, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across manufacturing facilities. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the manufacturing cost accounting function across all production units. • Develop and maintain standard costing systems for raw materials, labor, and overheads. • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic variance analysis reports. • Monitor production expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, stock reconciliation, and cost allocation. • Collaborate with production, procurement, supply chain, and operations teams to improve cost efficiency. • Prepare monthly manufacturing MIS reports and financial analysis for management review. • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for manufacturing operations. • Review BOMs (Bill of Materials), routing, labor rates, and overhead absorption methods. • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies. • Lead plant finance reviews and support operational KPI tracking. • Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits. • Drive ERP cost module optimization and automation initiatives. • Manage and mentor the cost accounting team to ensure high performance and professional development. Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. • Professional certification such as CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA preferred. • Master’s degree is an added advantage. Experience • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in cost accounting and manufacturing finance. • At least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role within manufacturing industries. • Experience in large-scale manufacturing environments is preferred. Skills & Competencies • Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost structures and inventory accounting. • Expertise in standard costing, variance analysis, and budgeting. • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills. • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics. • Advanced Excel and reporting skills. • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities. • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple manufacturing units.
