Job description
Sales & Profitability
• Achieve departmental sales targets and maintain required profit margins.
• Monitor daily sales performance and report variances to Branch Manager.
• Coordinate with management to liquidate slow moving items or return them to suppliers.
Supplier Negotiation & Benefits
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure rental income, rebates, and promotional support.
• Ensure supplier agreements benefit the company and align with profitability goals.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to prioritize fast moving and seasonal items.
Stock & Ordering
• Monitor daily ordering of fast moving food items to ensure availability.
• Track demand trends and adjust ordering accordingly.
• Maintain expiry sheets for all food items and ensure timely clearance of expired stock.
Category Management & Merchandising
• Implement proper category management to optimize shelf space and product visibility.
• Ensure departmental displays and merchandising comply with company standards.
• Guarantee all items are scannable and correctly priced on shelves.
• Prepare and update shelf price tags regularly.
Quality & Hygiene Control
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of shelves and food storage areas.
• Monitor and update temperature sheets for chillers and freezers daily.
• Ensure fresh items meet quality standards to avoid customer complaints.
Customer Service
• Support excellent customer service by ensuring product availability and correct pricing.
• Resolve customer complaints related to food items promptly and professionally.
• Assist in promotional campaigns and seasonal events for the grocery department.
Reporting & Coordination
• Provide daily reports on sales, stock availability, and supplier negotiations.
• Coordinate with Branch Manager and General Manager on departmental performance.
• Escalate operational issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in grocery/food retail operations.
• Strong knowledge of category management, merchandising, and supplier negotiations.
• Proficiency in ERP/POS systems and MS Office applications.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment.
