Job description
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Direct Wrap Screen Operator sets up and operates direct-wrap screen manufacturing machines to produce sand-control screens in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards. The role ensures accurate machine setup, consistent weld/wrap quality, productivity and safety, and supports achievement of production
targets.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Machine Setup & Operation
• Set up and operate direct-wrap screen machines including loading of wire, rods and base pipe.
• Set machine parameters (wrap pitch, tension, weld current, speed) per specification and product requirements.
• Operate the machine through the wrapping and resistance-welding process to produce screens to drawing.
• Achieve production targets while maintaining quality and minimising scrap.
B. Quality & Inspection
• Perform in-process checks on wrap pitch, gap, weld integrity, outer diameter and length.
• Identify and segregate non-conforming screens and report through NCRs.
• Maintain product identification and traceability throughout the process.
C. Material Handling & Setup Support
• Prepare and handle base pipe, wire and consumables safely using approved lifting aids.
• Support changeovers, tooling and roll changes for different screen sizes.
• Assist with screen machine setup and related fabrication as required.
D. Maintenance & Housekeeping
• Perform routine cleaning and first-line maintenance and report equipment faults.
• Maintain tools, consumables and the work area in good order.
• Record production data and complete required documentation.
E. Quality, HSE & Compliance
• Comply with API Q1 / ISO 9001, work instructions and process specifications.
• Ensures 5S is implemented in the work area.
• Follow HSE requirements and Safety Guidelines, use appropriate PPE and report unsafe conditions.
• Complies with the Company Code of Business Conduct.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
• Must complete minimum training required specified in Employee Qualification and OJT Form No. S 1-026F.
• Ability to set up and operate screen-manufacturing / wrapping and welding machines.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications and use measuring instruments.
• Attention to detail, safety awareness, teamwork and reliability.
• Ability to handle materials safely and work rotating shifts / overtime as required.
QUALIFICATION GUIDE
• Education : ITI / Diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience : Minimum 2-4 years operating screen-manufacturing or similar production machinery (oil & gas/ sand-control screens preferred).
• Communication : Basic working English.
• Working Condition : Shop-floor environment; shift and overtime as required.
