Digital Archives Director

About the Role Library of the World is seeking an experienced and forward\-thinking Digital Archives Director to lead the modernization of its digital archive systems and establish sustainable practices for the management, preservation, and accessibility of its collections. The Director will oversee the full digital archive lifecycle, including digitization projects, digital preservation, metadata and cataloging, digital asset management, archival technology, and the development of systems that make collections more accessible to researchers and the public. This role is ideal for an archival or information\-management professional who combines strong knowledge of traditional archival principles with practical experience in digital technologies. The successful candidate will help develop a modern, secure, and sustainable digital archive environment while leading staff and coordinating projects across the organization. Key Responsibilities * Lead the modernization and strategic development of the library's digital archive systems. * Develop and implement policies and procedures for digital preservation, digitization, access, and records management. * Plan and oversee the digitization of physical collections, including documents, photographs, audiovisual materials, and other archival resources. * Manage born\-digital and digitized collections throughout their lifecycle. * Establish and maintain appropriate metadata, cataloging, file\-format, storage, and preservation standards. * Evaluate and recommend digital repository, digital asset management, archival, and discovery technologies. * Oversee the organization, description, storage, preservation, and accessibility of digital collections. * Develop workflows for digital accessioning, quality control, metadata creation, and long\-term preservation. * Lead and coordinate archival technology and digitization projects, ensuring that projects remain on schedule and within available resources. * Supervise, train, and support archive and digitization staff. * Collaborate with IT personnel and external technology providers on infrastructure, security, backups, storage, and system integration. * Monitor emerging developments and professional standards in digital archives, digital curation, and preservation. * Promote access to collections through online platforms, digital exhibits, research tools, and other appropriate channels. * Ensure appropriate handling of copyright, privacy, intellectual property, and access restrictions. * Prepare reports, project plans, recommendations, and strategic proposals for organizational leadership. Required Qualifications * Master's degree in **Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS), Archival Studies, Information Management, Digital Curation**, or a closely related field. * **5\+ years of professional experience** in archives, libraries, digital collections, records management, or a related information\-management environment. * Demonstrated experience managing or implementing **digital archives, digital preservation, or digitization programs**. * Experience supervising staff and leading projects involving multiple stakeholders. * Strong understanding of archival principles, collection management, metadata, and digital preservation practices. * Familiarity with digital repositories, digital asset management systems, content management systems, or similar archival technologies. * Strong organizational, analytical, research, and written communication skills. * Ability to evaluate new technologies and translate technical requirements into practical archival solutions. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to the accuracy, authenticity, security, and long\-term accessibility of digital records. * Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with library, archival, IT, and administrative teams. Preferred Qualifications * Experience leading a major digital archive modernization or technology implementation project. * Knowledge of recognized digital preservation and archival frameworks, standards, and best practices, including **OAIS** and related digital preservation approaches. * Familiarity with metadata standards and schemas used in libraries and archives. * Experience working with archival collection\-management or digital repository platforms. * Experience with audiovisual, photographic, web, or born\-digital collections. * Professional certification in archives, records management, digital preservation, or a related discipline. * Experience working in a library, museum, cultural institution, research organization, or heritage organization. * Professional proficiency in **Arabic and English** is an advantage. موقع العمل: بشكل شخصي
