Contracts & Commercial Engineer – Construction

Job Description ERA Projects is looking for an experienced **Contracts \& Commercial Engineer** with a strong background in **construction and contracting**. The successful candidate will be responsible for contract administration, commercial management, tendering, cost control, variations, claims, and coordination with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams. Current Bahrain construction/commercial roles emphasize pre\- and post\-contract management, tender and BOQ review, commercial risk assessment, variations, claims, subcontract agreements, payment certifications, and contract review. Key Responsibilities * Manage **pre\-contract and post\-contract commercial activities** for construction projects. * Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract conditions. * Prepare and review **tenders, quotations, cost estimates, and commercial submissions**. * Review main contracts, subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and related commercial documents. * Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and commercial performance. * Prepare and evaluate **variations, claims, extensions of time, and additional\-cost submissions**. * Prepare interim payment applications, valuations, payment certificates, and final accounts. * Review subcontractor and supplier quotations and negotiate commercial terms. * Identify contractual risks, scope gaps, exclusions, and potential cost impacts. * Ensure proper documentation of contractual notices, correspondence, approvals, and commercial records. * Assist in contract negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers. * Monitor project progress against contractual obligations and agreed schedules. * Support the preparation and assessment of **claims and counterclaims**. * Coordinate closely with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Finance, and site teams. * Provide commercial reports and recommendations to management. * Assist with dispute resolution and contractual issues when required. * Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company procedures, and applicable construction regulations. Requirements * **Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.** * **Minimum 5–7 years of experience** in contracts/commercial management within the **construction industry**. * Strong experience in **building and civil construction projects**. * Solid knowledge of **FIDIC or similar construction contracts**. * Strong understanding of BOQs, cost estimation, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts. * Experience with **subcontract administration and commercial negotiations**. * Strong ability to review and interpret construction contracts and technical documents. * Excellent knowledge of **MS Excel and MS Office**. * Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem\-solving skills. * GCC/Bahrain construction experience is **highly preferred**. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines. * **Must be currently located in Bahrain.** * **Must be available for immediate joining.** * Candidates with **cancelled/transferable visa or valid local status** are preferred.
