Card Fraud Specialist (Techno-Functional)

About the role We are recruiting a techno-functional Card Fraud Operations Specialist to support a card fraud transformation programme with a leading financial institution. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused engagement centred on optimising fraud detection systems, tuning rules and thresholds, and strengthening card fraud operations end to end. The role sits predominantly on the technical side of the fraud function (approximately 75% technical, 25% business), and suits a specialist who is comfortable working directly in production fraud platforms while translating operational and regulatory needs into system configuration. Strong, current, hands-on FICO Falcon experience is the core requirement for this role. Key responsibilities Own and optimise fraud detection within FICO Falcon - writing and tuning rules, strategies, thresholds, custom variables, and scoring logic Configure and tune detection strategies across the wider platform stack (including Cain and Korus) Analyse fraud patterns and chargeback trends to inform detection and prevention strategy Manage and reduce fraud exposure across the card portfolio, including chargeback handling (Code 69) and MCV processes Review and refine detection performance, balancing fraud capture against false-positive and customer-friction impact Support the wider card fraud transformation programme, working with operations, risk, and technical stakeholders Provide post-implementation support and iterative tuning through the contract term Required experience and skills Strong, hands-on FICO Falcon experience - rule writing, threshold setting, strategy configuration, and model tuning in a live environment (essential) 10-12 years' experience in card fraud, with deep specialist expertise in card fraud operations Working knowledge of Cain and Korus platforms Strong command of chargeback processes, including Code 69, and MCV Demonstrable experience in fraud system optimisation - configuring and tuning detection rules and thresholds in a live environment Techno-functional profile: able to work directly in fraud platforms while engaging business and operations stakeholders Analytical rigour and a data-led approach to fraud strategy and performance measurement Desirable Prior experience delivering fraud transformation or system-optimisation programmes for banks or card issuers Exposure to GCC or wider regional card fraud operations Experience working within vendor or consulting engagements alongside in-house fraud teams' Strong, hands-on FICO Falcon experience - rule writing, threshold setting, strategy configuration, and model tuning in a live environment (essential) 10-12 years' experience in card fraud, with deep specialist expertise in card fraud operations Working knowledge of Cain and Korus platforms Strong command of chargeback processes, including Code 69, and MCV Demonstrable experience in fraud system optimisation - configuring and tuning detection rules and thresholds in a live environment Techno-functional profile: able to work directly in fraud platforms while engaging business and operations stakeholders Analytical rigour and a data-led approach to fraud strategy and performance measurement Desirable Prior experience delivering fraud transformation or system-optimisation programmes for banks or card issuers Exposure to GCC or wider regional card fraud operations Experience working within vendor or consulting engagements alongside in-house fraud teams'
