**Job Title:** Barista **Reports To:** Café Manager / Shift Supervisor **Position Type:** Full\-time / Part\-time **Job Summary** The Barista delivers high\-quality handcrafted beverages and exceptional customer service. This role involves accurately taking orders, operating commercial coffee equipment, maintaining café cleanliness, and creating an inviting atmosphere for guests. **Key Responsibilities** * **Beverage Preparation \& Recipe Execution** * Dial in espresso grinders, pull balanced shots, and texture milk for latte art and traditional builds. * Prepare hot/iced coffee drinks, specialty syrups, pour\-overs, teas, and cold brews according to standard recipes and proportions. * Ensure consistent drink presentation, flavor accuracy, and correct serve temperatures. * **Customer Service \& POS Operations** * Greet guests warmly, answer menu questions, and offer recommendations based on flavor preferences. * Ring up orders accurately on the Point of Sale (POS) system and process payments. * Serve pastries and food items following proper handling guidelines. * **Equipment Care \& Workstation Maintenance** * Clean, purge, and sanitize espresso machine group heads, steam wands, milk pitchers, and grinders regularly. * Maintain clean counters, customer seating areas, dish stations, and condiments areas. * Monitor stock levels for coffee beans, dairy/non\-dairy milks, syrups, cups, and food items, restocking as needed throughout the shift. * **Health, Safety \& Compliance** * Comply with local health, safety, and sanitation regulations for food and beverage handling. * Complete opening, shift\-change, and closing checklists. **Qualifications \& Requirements** * **Experience:** Previous experience as a barista or in a fast\-paced retail/hospitality setting preferred. * **Technical Knowledge:** Basic understanding of coffee brewing, milk steaming, and espresso calibration techniques. * **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent preferred; local food handler certification preferred. * **Soft Skills:** Excellent interpersonal communication, active listening, and time\-management under high volume. **Physical Demands** * Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4–8\+ hours per shift). * Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry items up to 30–50 lbs (e.g., milk crates, ice, bags of coffee). * Manual dexterity to operate machinery, handle glassware, and pour drinks continuously.
