Accountant

Job Description We are looking for a detail\-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage day\-to\-day accounting activities and support the company's financial operations. The role involves financial reporting, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, import cost monitoring, and maintaining accurate financial records within a food import and distribution business. Key Responsibilities * Maintain accurate accounting records, including general ledger entries, journal entries, and account reconciliations. * Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with quarterly and annual financial statements. * Support month\-end and year\-end closing activities. * Record and monitor import\-related expenses, including freight charges, customs duties, clearance fees, and logistics costs. * Calculate and allocate landed costs to ensure accurate inventory valuation. * Monitor inventory records and reconcile stock balances with warehouse reports. * Review inventory movements, stock discrepancies, and cost of goods sold (COGS). * Assist with periodic stock counts and inventory audits. * Review supplier invoices and process payments to local and international vendors. * Monitor customer receivables and follow up on outstanding payments. * Reconcile supplier and customer accounts and resolve discrepancies. * Monitor operational expenses and assist in cost control and profitability analysis. * Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring. * Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, Bahrain VAT regulations, and company policies. * Maintain proper financial documentation and provide supporting records for internal and external audits. * Use the company's accounting or ERP system to maintain financial data and generate reports. * Identify discrepancies and recommend improvements to accounting procedures and internal controls. Qualifications and Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience. * Experience in food import, FMCG, trading, or distribution is preferred. * Good knowledge of inventory accounting, landed cost calculations, and cost of goods sold. * Knowledge of Bahrain VAT regulations and applicable accounting standards. * Experience using ERP or accounting software. * Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in financial reporting. * Good analytical, organizational, and problem\-solving skills. * High attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet reporting deadlines. * Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other departments.
